2023 ICAO Stocktaking & SAF-Lab Exhibition

In line with the long-term aspirational goal for international aviation (LTAG) of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, agreed during the 2022 ICAO 41st session of Assembly, the Stocktaking will cover the:

Aviation in-sector CO2 emission reduction measures and innovations, including technologies, operations, fuels and cleaner energies.
A focus will be given on fuel-related approaches and solutions, showcasing the latest information from States, industry and other stakeholders in the lead-up to the third Conference on Aviation Alternative Fuels (CAAF/3) in November 2023.

A simultaneous exhibition will also be a part of this three-day event. The exhibition will showcase innovations in technologies, operations and fuels. It will include a SAF-LAB exhibition showcasing the various stages of the fuel-related supply chain, such as production, certification, distribution and accounting, and financing.

Pre-CAAF/3 policy & finance consultation sessions will follow the 2023 ICAO Stocktaking to initiate consultation among states, public and private financial institutions and other relevant stakeholders. More information on these sessions will be provided in due course.

The event will ocicaicaicur from 12 – 14 September 2023 at ICAO Headquarters in Montréal, Canada. This year’s theme is “Enhancing Traveller Mobility through Technology and Innovation.”

The TRIP Symposium is a highly anticipated event that allows experts and practitioners to exchange information on all aspects of traveller identification management. The Symposium will focus on promoting the global regulatory framework established by the provisions of Annex 9 – Facilitation to the Convention on International Civil Aviationand linking it to the new technology tools available on the market.

In conjunction with the ICAO/INTERPOL Joint Biometrics Forum, the Symposium will provide insight into best practices, specifications, and technical mechanisms to apply and use biometrics successfully.

The Symposium programme will feature various topics, including border control and law enforcement, travel document security applications, health proofs emission and authentication, automated border control systems, and identity management. Additionally, the exhibition will display a wide range of products and services related to these topics.

The ICAO Security Week 2023: AVSEC & CYBERSEC will be a unique opportunity to cover all aspects of aviation security, including aviation cybersecurity and other emerging issues. The week-long event will also include an Industry Day and side activities.

This year’s ICAO Security Week will look beyond the prevention of acts of unlawful interference to also address the resilience of civil aviation’s critical infrastructure against past, new and emerging threats. The discussions will include sessions on core security topics (MANPADS, conflict zones, cargo security, human factors, etc.) as well as emerging and evolving security-related topics such as cybersecurity, unmanned and remotely piloted aircraft systems, and disruptions due to activism.

To complement the event, an interactive exhibition will be set up outside the meeting hall with representatives from States, manufacturers, airports, airlines, and other aviation, security and cybersecurity related industries.
